Pastor Deaver served his community in many civic leadership roles such as, the president of the Fort Bend Ministers Association, Treasurer, Chaplain and religious stake holder for Fort Bend Houston Super Neighborhood 41. He also served as the NAACP Chaplain, President for the Baptist Church Loan Corporation Trustee Board (203) and as Commissioner for term limits in the city of Houston, District D.

As A Community Leader

Based on his study of Dr. Martin Luther King and the success he had in marching for social and moral injustice, Pastor Deaver organized and successfully led the 2009 March preventing closure of the Marshall High School Engineering program. Along with the Fort Bend ministers, over three hundred people participated, including US congressman Al Green, State Representative Dora Olivo, County Commissioner Grady Prestige, and many others that kept the Electrical Engineering Academy at Marshall High School.  He held regular meetings with stake holders, political leaders, and citizens in the Fort Bend and Houston, but mainly the Missouri City area to address issues that would enhance the community.

Of all the accomplishments, associations, religious and social involvement, Pastor Deaver was most proud of the Homeless Mission Ministry at New Hope Baptist Church.  This ministry feeds and delivers clothing to over 200 people each month.  The church's mission is “Giving New Hope To The Hopeless”.

Pastor Deaver believed the church is ordained by God to positively transform lives into the image and likeness of our creator. His vision centered on empowering people with the word of God.

His favorite bible verse was: Philippians 4: 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Giving hope means to lift someone from the state of depression, frustration and apathy by creating an environment to achieve prosperity. To accomplish this task, Pastor Deaver focused on community development and education. He partnered with Fort Bend ISD, Community Leaders, Political Leaders, Residents of Fort Bend Houston and other agencies to bring the tools necessary for opportunity and access.
