Our Story...

A Little History

In January of 1992, Reverend Theodore L. Deaver became founder and organizing Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church. New Hope started with twelve faithful members, who met in Pastor Deaver's home a few weeks prior to the first worship service at Christa McAuliffe Middle School’s Auditorium on February 9, 1992. Sunday night worship service and Wednesday night Bible Study were also held in Pastor Deaver's living room.

In 1993, we relocated to 11246 South Post Oak, Suite 304. This move made it possible for us to hold all of our services in one location. In August of 1994, we moved to Suites 100 and 101, which doubled our square footage.  In 1994, our prayer for land was answered when we were blessed with 3.7 acres of land, which was located at 6430 Court Road at Chimney Rock. In late 1994, Reverend Howard Anderson, the Assistant Pastor interceded on behalf of the church with the officers at Texas Commerce Bank to acquire eight modular buildings with over 6,000 square feet of space.

In 1995, the buildings were donated to us and moved from Champion Forest on FM 1960 to our land at 6430 Court Road. In September of 1996, we held our first worship service in the building.  In November of 2000, we purposed in our hearts, with the help of God, to build a new worship temple for God. Construction began in November of 2001, and the doors to the sanctuary were opened on October 6, 2002.

On Sunday, December 8, 2002, we dedicated our new worship temple. In June of 2003, we again felt it necessary to continue to strive for excellence within our community and within our membership of youth, to build a Family Life Center. With the help of God, we look forward to the completion of the building by summer of 2004.

At New Hope, we strive to develop more intimate relationships with God and a complete understanding of what He wants to do in and through us. As God continues to strengthen us and increase our spiritual wisdom, we know that we will live in ways that honor and please Him. Our fervent prayer is that New Hope Baptist Church  will stand as a beacon light in the community, through which we endeavor to spread God’s glorious Gospel.
