Reverend Benjamin E. Price
Pastor
Pastor Price had a wonderful childhood being always surrounded by his eight brothers and nine sisters and being raised in a
large family. He can still remember that it was always his older siblings who were given the job of nurturing and teaching the
younger kids as they grew older.
Pastor Price was always taken to church every Sunday – to Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and staying for 11:00 a.m. worship
services. His father was the pastor of the local church that Pastor Price was a member of – Allen Temple A.M.E. Church.
Because he was good at “figures,” he was made the finance secretary of the church when he was seventh or eighth grade. He
had to attend the weekly “board meeting” every Monday night where the revenue and expenses for the church was
compiled.
After much soul-searching, Pastor Price was convicted to leave the Methodist church and became a member of True Vine
M.B. Church and has labored in the Baptist doctrine every since.
Pastor Price moved from West Helena, AR to North Little Rock, AR in 1983 due to a transfer from his company. His family
and he soon joined the First Baptist Church in North Little Rock under the leadership of William L. Robinson. It was at First
Baptist that he was ordained as a deacon. He also served as Superintendant of the Sunday School. It was in North Little Rock
when then Deacon Price first felt the tugging and urging of the Holy Spirit calling him into the ministry – but he did not
obey.
Pastor Price attended Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock, Arkansas where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business
Administration in 1987.
After a job transfer from North Little Rock, AR to Houston, TX in 1989, then Deacon Price joined Kashmere Gardens Baptist
Church under the leadership of Pastor Gene A. Canada. While a member of Kashmere Gardens Baptist Church, Deacon Price
served as a teacher, worked with the “outreach ministry,” was one of the leaders of the “youth ministry” and served
faithfully. It was at Kashmere that Deacon Price accepted his call into the ministry. Rev. Price preached his first sermon on
the fifth Sunday in January, 1992.
Seeking a church more close to where he lived, Rev. Price and Sis. Price moved their membership from Kashmere Gardens to
New Hope Baptist Church.
Pastor Price was called by God, and elected by New Hope Baptist Church to become the pastor in November, 2015. Pastor
Price began his duties as pastor on January 1, 2016.
Pastor Benjamin E. Price was born on April 12, 1956 in West Helena, Arkansas. He is the fourteenth of eighteen children born to the late Rev. J.H. and Sis. Velma L. Price. Pastor Price was married to Sis. Clee E. Price on December 17th, 1977. To this union three children were born – Kendra, Shalonda (deceased), and Chelsea. They have two grandchildren – Corneluis and Kinsey.
Pastor Price was called into the ministry in November of 1991 under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Gene A.
Canada of Kashmere Gardens M.B. Church of Houston, TX, and preached his first sermon on the fifth Sunday in January, 1992. He served faithfully under the guidance of Pastor Gene A. Canada until he joined New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of our Founding Pastor Theodore L. Deaver.
